Why are the old not teaching the young?

My 12 yr. old son was part of a 4-H club this summer. In August they presented the items they made at the Clackamas County Fair. My son had a wonderful time walking the grounds. Today he came to me and said, Mom you HAVE to read this article out of the Newspaper! As I read it informed me that the craft area of the fair was dwindling. Only the elderly were presenting "handmade" items. The young people of the fair, said that there was nobody to teach them "longer" crafts anymore , such as sewing, crocheting, and food entries . The article stated that in a day an age of 30 minute meals, some of the craft areas will have to be deleted. The fair started in 1906, with quilts and crochet items being showcased. Lets not forget ladies, the wonderful tradition of making beautiful things with our own hands! Teach your children these things, and offer a teaching hand in your church. God Bless your comings and goings!

The Ten Commandments

How I met Jane

I was completely unfamiliar with Jane Austen until the movie Pride and Prejudice came out, with Kiera Knightly.
Since then I have been absolutely hooked! Three evenings ago I was able to watch Sense and Sensibility, with Kate Winslet. I am an avid reader, yet I have not yet read any of Austen's novels. My intent is to do so, one at a time.

I Apologize....

I would just like to make a note here, that I am an affiliate with all posters. Somehow they are able to put their " sales" on my blog without my permission. I am trying to figure out how to put an end to that, so please bear with me, and excuse anything unholy that you might see there. I am working diligently to fix this. Thank you, Mrs. Lijewski

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord....

Psalm 100:1-5

1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Now, O Lord...

Now, O Lord, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our potter; and we are the work of Thy hand.

Maternal Affection

I will delight myself...

I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy word. Psalm 119:16

Which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard His word. Luke 10:39

Whatever happens let us not be too busy to sit at Jesus' feet.
We shall not really lose time by enjoying this; nay, we shall redeem the time;
for there is usually much more time and strength forfeited by friction then by toil,
and we shall gain in blessedness and enjoyment of our work, and gain in the quality
of our work; and, above all, we shall gain in that we shall give Him pleasure where
otherwise we might only grieve Him. And this is indeed the crown of all our endeavors. We who pleases Him does not live in vain.
WM.Hay M.H.Aitken

A low standard of prayer means a low standard of character and a low standard of service. Those alone labor effectively among men who impetuously fling themselves
upward towards God.
